Museum of Contemporary Art of Elvas

Housed in the building of the former Hospital da Misericórdia since July 6, 2007, the museum exhibits a rich collection of works by Dr. António Cachola, consisting of over 300 pieces by Portuguese artists such as Joana Vasconcelos, José Pedro Croft, Rui Sanches, Pedro Calapez, Sofia Areal, among others. It simultaneously houses temporary collections of various types in its galleries, always maintaining a special emphasis on the art produced by the children of Portugal.
